Kamala Beach lies just north of the hustle and bustle of Patong and is a much quieter stretch of sand with a much more relaxed and peaceful feel. Kamala’s well-enclosed bay is surrounded by forested hills and is one of the most beautiful places in Phuket.

With its quieter pace, Kamala has become a favoured spot for holidaymakers and other longer-term visitors staying in small hotels, villas and apartment rentals around the village.

Kamala is a beautiful long beach with clear and calm waters during high season, featuring plenty of local Thai and European dining options.

Once a quiet Muslim village with Phuket Fantasea as the only attraction, Kamala has seen a recent increase in popularity and development, including the recent opening of the Cafe Del Mar and HQ Beach Clubs and Intercontinental hotel.

The village consists of 3 distinct areas;

  1. Residential Area: To the east is the residential area where you’ll find mostly typical Thai homes and the odd restaurant.
  2. Tourist Area: To the left of the main road and along the beach is the tourist area.
  3. Millionaires Mile: Heading towards Patong, running along the coastline is what’s known locally as millionaire’s mile, aptly named due to the many multimillion-dollar villas and resorts built here.
