1. Karon / Kata Viewpoints
The most popular Phuket viewpoint with breathtaking views of Kata Noi, Kata, and Karon Beaches, the famous viewpoint is reached via the coastal road towards Nai Harn.
Called Khao Saam Haad (meaning hill of 3 beaches), the Karon viewpoint is a great stopping point for those traveling to the southern end of the island.
2. Phromthep Cape
One of Phuket’s most photographed places and attracting visitors from all over the island, Phromthep Cape offers some of the most spectacular sunsets, nightly.
Kaew Yai island can be seen off the coast and on a clear day, you can see as far as the Phi Phi islands, Koh Racha Yai and Koh Racha Noi from the Phromthep Cape lighthouse.
3. Windmill Viewpoint
Home of the Promthep Alternative Energy Station, Windmill Viewpoint is less crowded than the more popular Promthep Cape, but still close enough to visit both. The viewpoint overlooks Naiharn Beach and gives you the opportunity to capture fantastic shots of the entire length of the unspoiled and under-rated Beach.
4. Big Buddha Viewpoint
Located 400 meters above sea level, this viewpoint is also the home to Phuket’s Big Buddha statue. With sweeping 360 degree views of the island, including Phuket Town, Kata Beach, Karon Beach, Chalong Bay, and much more. Remember to dress conservatively to respect the Buddha’s spiritual significance.
If you have time and are feeling hungry after all the sightseeing, the restaurant at The Big Buddha Viewpoint offers good food and even better views.
5. Panwa Viewpoint
Known as the Khao Khad Views Tower. On a clear day, the hilltop tower in Cape Panwa offers some picturesque views of the south of the island, including Phuket’s Big Buddha in the distance.
The tower has two levels and visitors are provided with photo maps for assisting with the many sights in the distance.
6. Rang Hill
Rang Hill offers wonderful views of Phuket town that can be enjoyed from the summit, the park has become a popular place for local students and romantic couples to hang out and relax under the shading of the trees. Also perfect for enjoying an afternoon picnic, some early morning exercise or just reading a book.
The two restaurants at Rang Hill also provide fantastic views of Phuket Town.
7. Monkey Hill
This Phuket Town viewpoint is officially named Toe Sae Hill but to foreigners, it is more commonly referred to as Monkey Hill, unsurprisingly due to the number of macaque monkeys that you will encounter on your way up.
The hill has a number of great viewpoints located at differing levels which have much better views than at the top, this is because a television station and satellite towers prevent visitors from reaching the actual summit.
On your way up the hill, you will also notice a very basic exercise park, a popular place for locals to work out.
8. Radar Hill Viewpoint
At 1,640 ft (500 m) above sea level, Radar hill is the tallest point on Phuket. Steep roads wind up towards the summit, stopping just short of a weather station that can be seen from the beaches below. This drive affords several picturesque views of Patong and eastern Phuket.
9. Phi Phi Viewpoint
Not exactly on Phuket but we feel it’s close enough to make a top 10 list. The viewpoint at Phi Phi Don requires a 30-minute walk but is a fantastic location for watching the sunrise or sunsets and offers staggering views of Tonsai and Loh Dalum bays, and Ko Phi Phi Ley.
10. Helicopter Charters
And finally for the most thrilling views of Phuket, and the most breathtaking picture opportunities, helicopter tours offer an unusual way to see the island from above. There are currently a number of private flight companies offering chartered sky tours over Phuket’s famous beaches, emerald waters, and Phang Nga’s beautiful limestone cliffs.
