Over the years many great movies have been shot on Phuket, highlighting some of the spectacular beaches and scenery this small Island has to offer. Below are our 10 favorites.

1. The man with the golden gun (1974)

The ninth movie from the James Bond series featured Ko Khao Phing Kan, but thanks to 007 it is now refered to as James Bond Island. Roger Moore stars as the MI6 agent James Bond.

2. The Killing Fields (1984)

Based on the Khmer Rouge regime in Cambodia, The Killing Fields features the French and US embassies in Phuket Town.

3. Good Morning, Vietnam (1989)

The Oscar-winning Good Morning, Vietnam starring Robin Williams included jungle scenes shot in Phuket.

4. Casualties of War (1989)

Brian de Palma’s Vietnam War film has realistic jungle scenes filmed in Phuket. It starred Michael J. Fox and Sean Penn.

5. Heaven and Earth (1993)

The Vietnam War movie features Chinpracha House in Phuket Town.

6. Cutthroat Island (1995)

The pirate film starring Geena Davis was shot in Maya Bay on Ko Phi Phi.

7. Tomorrow Never Dies (1997)

The second 007 film to make the list, the eighteenth movie from the James Bond series stars Pierce Brosnan. Phang Nga Bay was portrayed as Halong Bay in Vietnam.

8. The Beach (2000)

The second film on the list featuring Ko Phi Phi’s, Maya Bay. The beautiful beach stole the show in this film starring Leonardo Dicaprio and directed by Danny Boyle.

9. Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason (2004)

Phuket’s Airport and seascapes near Ko Panyee were filmed in The 2nd Bridget Jones movie.

10. Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith (2005)

Backdrops from just outside of Phuket, in Krabi province, were featured in this movie.
