Kamala Beach
Kamala Beach is located on the west coast of Phuket, about 10 – 15 minutes drive north of Patong Beach. Considered a much quieter alternative to the more popular destinations on the Island, Kamala has seen a recent growth in popularity with a large number of 5* resorts and property development in the area.
With this growth has brought with it a number of new restaurants and other businesses to Kamala Beach, including the recent relocation of the very popular Silk Restaurant from Surin.
In spite of this recent growth, the area has still kept its relaxed and peaceful charm. Mostly popular with European couples and families.
For the adventurous, long tail boats can be hired to take you to nearby beaches such as Laem Sing Beach and Surin Beach. A slightly more expensive alternative to the long tails are Jet Ski’s, which can be hired by the hour.

However, due to the beach dropping sharply into the sea, the waves and currents can become quite dangerous during low season (June to October) and swimming is often not possible. With these waves brings the surfers, who can usually be found at the north end of the beach.
During high season (November to April) there is also a good selection of Thai Restaurants and bars that open along the beach, serving Thai and Western food, as well as drinks to sun bathers during the day.
