I’m embarrassed to admit this but it wasn’t until recently that I had even heard of Hua beach let alone visited it… and that’s after living on Phuket for the last 10 years!
Luckily though, I’m not the only one as it is still a very secluded beach, even during high season. This may be due to the size and sea not being good for swimming as its very shallow and rocky.
The beach is however a perfect setting if you are looking for somewhere away from the crowds during your holiday. Living in Kamala, Hua beach has quickly become one of my favourite places to take a break, relax and read a book with the sound of the ocean in the background.
When I have been there in the mornings it almost feels like I’m on a deserted island as I’m usually the only person walking along the beach.
There is a small shack that sells drinks which is open in the afternoons. Canoes, boats and fishing equipment are also for rent here as well. Around the southern cape is a good spot to fish as I have seen a few people walking along the rocks with their fishing rods in hand.
At the southern end is also the luxury Villa Laemsom, the lucky people who get to stay in a villa like this have direct access to the beach and also beautiful sweeping panoramic views.
HOW TO GET THERE
To find the beach is actually quite simple. Drive along millionaire’s mile, passing Andara and the Hyatt Regency, further up the hill you will come across a flashing 40kmh speed limit sign and just past this on the right side of the road is the small red Hua Beach sign.
Although the path looks small a car will fit through and there is a small car park at the bottom of the hill.
